Note: This essay was about whether you would donate 1 million dollars to science or arts.
In millions of years of human existence, the one thing that has connected generations of humans has been art. Art not only connects people of different generations, but different cultures as well. Art is universally appreciated as beatiful and deep, and it it necessary for the health of future generations. Therefore, the million dollar donation would be most adaquately spent on the arts and humanities.
Art is the greatest equalizer of the world: people of all age, generation, and culture create and appreciate it. Art represents our struggle, our hope, and holds meanings that science can never have. Science will never be able to bring out the same level of emotions in comparison to a persons attachment or understanding of a piece of art. Art needs to be promoted and facilitated among youths today to continue the tradition of art for future generations.
Art needs to be established in our schools so we as well can have something to connect us to future and ancient generations. The one million dollar donation is clearly needed for the arts and humanities, because without art we wouldn't be where we are today.
